It took me 30mins for both checkin n check out. Unprofessional service indeed
This hotel is in a great location. I lived in Puxi several years ago and this was in the same area. Close to the Metro and close to Jing An area..my favorite.
The Hotel is old and needs an upgrade... The beds are hard as a rock, the rooms have no insulation so I could hear everything going on in the next room ( had to bang on the wall to get them to quiet down), the shower backed up and the water leaked onto the carpets in the room....like I said it needs an upgrade with all the new hotels popping up all over Shanghai..
very close to shopping area
the bed is too hard. not when u have to stay for more then 2 nights its really hard to sleep. Its like Central suites old beds! pls look into replacing with more comfy mattress
nice view from the room , room was spacious , great location , easy acsess to various shopping areas
the room was very old and used , also not really clean , stains everywhere , also on the bedsheets , bed was a bit hard compared to other hotels i stayed in shanghai this one was really bad , also a joke - when we asked for a baby bed they wanted to charge us 300 RMB ! first time ever somebody wanted to charge us for a baby bed , i stayed in a lot of hotels in china ,asia and shanghai , never was asked for this !
Rooms are spacious. Location is good, relatively close to West Nanging metro station and to malls and restaurants, But don't get impressed by the Prada, Gucci and Bottega Veneta stores around: the hotel is fair at best.
Service was terrible: when checking in at 1am, there was a group of 30 people entering at the same time and the front desk wanted to scan all their passports before giving us room keys (although the group already left for their rooms...). When asking for a taxi Friday evening, the hotel simply said it was impossible to get a taxi at that time, not providing any help or alternative. There is no lobby, meaning you have to wait for their slow service standing. And concierge only served to give maps and try to sell Expo tickets; when we asked for checking restaurant hours or for recommendations, we got an ugly face. Rooms are old, with stained carpets, old wallpapers, very hard beds (more than other Chinese hotels I've stayed at).
The hotel rejected my credit card 3 times before my arrival, hence my first booking was canceled. There was, however, nothing wrong with my card as I had no problems whatsoever using my card elsewhere. I ended up making a reservation through Booked.net again, but at a higher rate. This time my card was accepted by them. I verified my credit card details several times, and there was nothing wrong there either.
The hotel is really cheap, and u can have a suite for a very low price. Central location. You can spend half the price of other luxury hotels in the neighbourhood, but with 50 m2 suite. Good service.
The furniture is a bit old; the staff speak poor English but they are kind; no waiting space in the hall.
I've stayed here before and I love the location close to nanjing west road, with goo shopping and close to several western bars and eateries
The beds are the worse I have (tried) slept in. The are so hard and if you mention this you get a thin duvet to put underneath. They seem to have lost all the English TV channels they once had and there was no Internet working in the rooms. I did notice posters in the lift saying they ate about to embark on restoration of all rooms so prepare for it to get worse before it gets better with lots of noise. That will be last stay in the golden tulip until the refurbishment is finished and then I may be back
the only positive we cna say about this hotel it is the LOCATION... it is the best location in town close to everythign and easy to move around ..
well the hotel eed first of all a restoration is falling in pieeces... it is old and used ...there i sno lobby ... need to be more international also due to the location, there is no one channel in english on TV .. in the bathormm there are one bath towel and one small towel...ther are many doors of the rooms that do not open... and this is goign on for a while now, it happen to me few months ago and it happen to two of my friends this visit the staff in the cafè-restuarant it is nice and try hard the rest of hte staff it is not totally co-operative no wireless in rooms...IT IS NOT A BUSINESS HOTEL , but i still use and recomend to other becasue of the location
The bed was hard as a rock. I asked for a different bed or additional bed, and they sent me one thin blanket. The only way my back pain went away was by using the chair cushions as bed on top of the ridiculous 'mattress'. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone who values sleeping.
location was good rooms old but comfortable
first of all workers wery bad, they are very slow and not helpfull, rooms were dirty, internet connection was weak and in the room with money, all refgirators were non working, rooms walls were very weak and you can hear other rooms speaking easly, even we dont want to stay this hotel again ....
I was sharing my twin room with a work colleague, so the only reason for liking the Golden tulip was the location to Citic square.
1. Very untidy, the cleaning of the rooms scores a 0 out of 10 2. the cost of the internet is charged by the day at 88RMB, i was there 12 nights so the internet cost me a total of 1056RMB on top, so what started as a cheap hotel ended up being an expensive stay especially when most other hotels give you internet for FREE. 3. bedroom widow when closed still let in an awful draft. 4. it sook me 2 days to finally get some plates, knives and forks for in my room, there was a small kitchen area in the room so these items where needed.
Good location and very cozy hotel, very comfortable, best choice if for personnel booking for the weekend or short visit in Shanghai.
I had to be in Jiading District (Shanghai) for business. I have lived there for 2 years, now living in Singapore. After my business obligation staying in Golden Tulip Ashar Suites gave me the possibility to meet my Dutch friends during the weekend.
Vey dirty, needs renovation. Hard bed
